How We Remove Rats and Mice
Roof rats, Norway rats, and house mice each travel and nest differently, so trap placement is specific to what we find:
- Roof rats are the most common rat across Southern California. They climb, nest high, and are cautious around new objects, so traps go along the runways they already use in the attic and upper walls.
- Norway rats stay low, burrowing near foundations, under slabs, and in crawl spaces.
- House mice explore more freely and can squeeze through a gap about the width of a pencil, so interior trapping is paired with close sealing work.
We come back to check and clear traps until activity stops. Inside living areas and attics we lean on traps rather than poison, so you are not left with a rodent dying inside a wall.
Removal Only Lasts if the Building Is Sealed
This is where most extermination jobs fall short. Once the active rodents are handled, we move to rodent proofing, sealing each entry point with galvanized mesh, hardware cloth, and sealant that rodents cannot chew through. That sealing work is covered by our 2-year warranty.
If the attic has droppings, nesting, or urine-soaked insulation, we also recommend attic decontamination or a full attic cleanup and insulation replacement. The scent left behind is a signal to the next rodent that the space is a good place to live.
