Attic Cleanup & Insulation Replacement After Rodents

Rats and mice love attic insulation. It is warm, soft, and easy to tunnel through. After a few months it is flattened, full of droppings, and soaked with urine. Cleaning the surface does not fix that. The insulation has to come out. Our attic cleanup and insulation service removes the damaged material, sanitizes the attic, and installs new insulation.

Step 1: Remove the Old Insulation

We use a high-powered insulation removal vacuum that pulls material from the attic straight into sealed bags outside, so nothing is carried through your living space. Droppings, nesting, and debris come out along with it.

Step 2: Clean and Sanitize

With the attic floor exposed, we clear any remaining debris and apply an enzyme-based treatment as part of attic decontamination. This breaks down urine and the scent markers rodents follow back to the same spot.

Step 3: Seal Before You Insulate

New insulation is wasted if rodents can get back in. If sealing has not been done yet, we complete rodent proofing at the roofline, vents, and other openings first.

Step 4: Install New Insulation

We blow in fresh insulation to an even depth across the attic. You get a clean, sealed attic that holds temperature better than the flattened material it replaced.

How do I know if my insulation needs to be replaced?

Signs include matted or flattened areas, tunnels and nests in the insulation, droppings mixed throughout, stains, and a lingering ammonia smell. During the inspection we check how widespread the damage is and whether a partial or full replacement makes sense.

What kind of insulation do you install?

Most attics in the area use blown-in insulation, and that is what we usually install. We match or improve on what you had and bring the attic to a consistent depth.

Will new insulation lower my energy bill?

It often helps. Rodents flatten and tunnel through insulation, which reduces how well it works. Restoring an even layer helps the attic hold heat in winter and keep it out in summer.
